Why You Should Take More Pictures.
Photography is a word coined by combining the Greek for “light” and “drawing”. 20,000 years ago people daubed lines onto the walls of caves as visual remembrances and that’s exactly what those lines do, even today. What we know of these ancient people come to us in the drawings.
Nothing has really changed in terms of why and the process of taking photographs. We are just in a period where the devices and tools of taking photographs have been made much more easy to use and have.
Why do people take pictures?
People take pictures for different reasons, it could be to record a memory, to capture a moment. It could be to send a message or for publicity purposes and many more.
Can you imagine till now, there are many people in this world who believes that photoshoot is a waste of time and money? Well, we know they are totally wrong.
Yes! As a professional photography company, we do photography to get paid. This is how we earn to put food on our table and in this way we can take care of our family. But, that’s not everything; there is a hidden thing that gives us the influence to continue with our profession. The hidden thing is passion; I mean we have a love for photography in our hearts.
Photography is a creative job. Our passion, love and devotion drive us to keep shooting more and more.
There are many important reasons for photography and here are the key reasons for taking photos:
- Capturing Moments
- Appreciate little things.
- Telling Stories
- Communicating with Others
Capturing Memories
Is there any other better thing than photography that can capture your memories? I believe your answer should be “NO”.
Photography has the power to remind you of your memories whether good or bad and make you nostalgic. We live in a world where people are super busy and they don’t have enough time to meet with their family and friends often. But one of your photos with or without them can give you the pleasures of the times spent together.
When you open your photo gallery and go through the album your memories become alive for a moment. I’m sure you would say “I remember this!” And it’s not a matter of whether the photos were taken by a professional photographer or not.
Photos can do the job by capturing your important memories.
Moments are happening continuously. Every day many important things are happening around us. We’re travelling, dating, playing on the field, attending parties and outing with our kids. All of these have some important moments.
Photos tilt your memories toward the good experiences you’ve had, simply because you’re more likely to take photos of joyful times. That’s important, because due to a phenomenon known as “negativity bias,” it’s easier to recall bad times than good ones. Having snapshots of the latter keeps them vivid in our minds.
Looking back on funny photos with friends can bring about the happiness of what was felt the moment the photo was taken. Not much is better than reminiscing and having some good laughs.
A photograph freezes these moments so we can capture the time to get pleasure from them.
Appreciate little things
Everyday photography is a chance to stop and smell the roses. Quite literally. I am so much more observant of my surroundings since I started taking lots of pictures. I notice particularly striking color combinations, beautiful table arrangements, unique angles on architecture, and small pockets of beauty that I never noticed before. The constant search for beauty reminds us that we are surrounded by it if we will only stop and notice.
Telling Stories
A photo can speak and create a great story. Have you ever looked at a photo you just captured, which make you stop and see? Many times, the theme of a photograph is so significant; it does not matter if it has been taken by an amateur or skilled photographer.
The stories of these photos may have the quality to overshadow several technical capacities of a photographer. These stories may also contain sadness, happiness or any other sensational emotions.
For example, you can think of the photos of Olympic gold medalists at that time of the victory or a tragic accident or natural disaster as well as war. Moreover, photos of your personal event such as a wedding can produce a significant story forever.
So, go out with your camera capture some of your memories and moments are happening around you! Try to tell stories with your camera! Gradually develop the quality! Most importantly, share the photos with others since your photography can not only inspire you but also it can inspire others.
Communicating With Others
You have heard an old proverb, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” It’s not wrong.
Photographs are the new way to communicate nowadays. Social media sites are centered around photography.
Taking a photo is so much easier due to improved technology; it is the easiest way to save memory or a moment. It can be shared seen or understood easily. A photograph can also communicate your ideas in a very imaginative, creative, visual and artistic way.
Conclusion
Every picture has a story behind it. A real photo is personal, it has intimacy. It makes your memory infinite.
Every photo holds a story behind it. Make sure the story is the moment, not taking multiples of them to fake a perfect one. Photography is a powerful tool, use it to revisit your memories and capture new ones.
Lastly, I’ve noticed that happy families tend to display large numbers of photos.
